CFD Analysis
Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) is a sophisticated computational-based analysis technology that has the ability
to predict the fluid flow behavior and study the dynamics of the flow.
CFD provides the power to simulate:
- Flow of gases and liquids
- Multiphase physics
- Fluid-structure interaction
VME uses leading edge Fluent™ CFD software for:
- Optimization of designs and process efficiency
- Reductions in cost of products
- Saving time by avoiding actual field experiments
- Troubleshooting of existing designs
Motion Studies and Separator Designs
The use of floating oil production systems is increasing relative to fixed platforms because of:
- Lower capital cost
- Suitable at any water depth
- Potential of re-use
- Hydrocarbon deposits discovered in progressively deeper water
However, some of the processing equipment on floating systems, particularly large primary gravity separators, can
be adversely affected by floater motions that are caused by waves, wind and currents.
Installation of porous or perforated baffles in the vessels can effectively suppress the gross liquid movement caused
by the vessel motion also known as sloshing.
By using the multiphase solver in CFD, the fluid behavior in the vessel can be predicted.
